The rank distribution and percentage of players by tier in Paladins. It includes data on the players using keyboard and mouse on all platforms (PC and console).
Source of the data
Hi-Rez provides an API for Paladins, but it doesn’t show aggregate data or skill ratings: it just gives a list of matches and indicates who was in those matches, who won, the damage they inflicted, etc.
The rank statistics displayed on this page are based on the Hi-Rez’s API, but they have been computed and aggregated by The Better Meta. They allowed me to use it for the article, tables, and graphs.
The charts contain stats on all the platforms (PC and consoles) and only on players using keyboard and mouse (controller users are not included).
I don’t plan to update this article monthly as the changes are negligible, but will probably add fresh data once per patch.

A summary of the data
According to these statistics, the average player is at the very limit of Gold 1 as this rank goes from the 37.7 to the 53.4 percentile.
Just a tiny portion of the playerbase reached the top ranks. Diamond and above is equal to the top 4.3%, and achieving Platinum is already a great accomplishment because it starts from the 81.2 percentile.
I believe there is a slightly excessive amount of players ranked at Gold, but beside that the distribution looks quite solid, with about 37% of the players placed at Silver and below due to their actual skill level.
Do not forget that we are talking about aggregate and estimated statistics (based on the Hi-Rez’s API data) so they might not be completely accurate.
Master: 0.35% (Grandmaster included)
How the matchmaking system works
I would like to share a note on the MM system. Many players believe that the ranked and matchmaking systems are flawed because they are often placed in and against teams with an unbalanced average rank.
I do not claim that the current system is perfect, but I just want to to point out that Paladins gives to each player a rank and a hidden matchmaking rating (MMR). We may believe that a match is poorly balanced based on the rank alone, but in reality what matters the most is the hidden MMR.
Sometimes the MM system can be frustrating and look like a gamble because it tries to force a 50% win rate, but note that you will receive more Triumph Points (TP) and lose less if according to your hidden MMR you belong to a higher rank (which helps to rank up despite the not excellent win rate).
